The Alberta Biathlon Club, on behalf of the Gernot Kostera Charitable Foundation, is now accepting applications for the 2018 Gernot Kostera Awards.

These prestigious biathlon awards are named after the late Gernot Kostera, an avid supporter of biathlon in our province and a former President of the Alberta Biathlon Club. Gernot passed away a number of years ago, but left a legacy behind in the form of his charitable foundation that supports these awards. The first Gernot Kostera Awards ceremony took place in Canmore on January 5, 2008.

The Gernot Kostera Award is given to one male and one female aged 12-14, the award amount for 2018 is $1000 per recipient. In addition, Gernot Kostera Summer Camp Awards are given to at one male and one female in the same age range, the award will be in the form of registration to a summer biathlon training program in Alberta.

Applications or third party nominations will be in the form of a one page letter listing key biathlon milestones, sport and academic goals, other accomplishments and interest.  Include a statement on why the award would be important to you.  Applicants must be residents of Alberta and no older than fourteen on March 10, 2018.

Nominations will be e-mailed with the subject line "ABC Kostera Award" to ABC Sport Development Manager at: info@albertabiathlon.com no later than midnight February 12, 2018.

The awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at the Calforex Cup #6 in Hinton, AB.
