Alberta Biathlon Club runs three major series of biathlon competitions: Kinder Cup This is the oldest and most popular series of biathlon races for the kids between 8 and 12 years of age. This is an air-rifle only competition series that takes place in different locations throughout Alberta. ABC usually hosts 3 races per winter racing season. This series is open to novice athletes and even those who are not in biathlon program but would like to test themselves in a new sport discipline. The registration fees are in effect for each race and are usually between $20-$30 per participant. The famous Kinder Cup medals are awarded to the first three finishers along with a hefty package of draw prizes for all others at each and every race. The schedule of 2009-2010 Kinder Cup Competitions is coming SOON... ABC Biathlon Team Challenge This is a new series of races that has been introduced in late 2007. Since then this relay format competition has grown to be one of the most interesting biathlon races to participate in and watch in our province. This series is all about fun and hard competition as it is open to general public and usually attracts a great number of adults as well as families and kids. This is the only fun, no-pressure biathlon race in Alberta that is open to general public with no previous biathlon experience. The 2-person teams usually compete in three categories: Adults, Families and Kids. This race has been quite popular among young professionals and attracted a lot of active people from other sports (running, triathlon, orienteering, downhill skiing and mountain biking). This series takes place throughout the year and is most active in the Fall and Winter. The registration fees are in effect and are usually around $10-$15 per person per race. Please, check back with us as the schedule of races will be released SOON... Summer Biathlon This series is a regular format summer biathlon competition where athletes compete in the categories as outlined by Biathlon Alberta. The series runs between August and November each year and usually consists of 3 races. The locations are different and vary from season to season. This series is also open to general public and has a novice category in each and every competition. The registration fees are in effect and do not usually exceed $30 per person/per race. The schedule of races of Fall 2009 is coming SOON... Mountain Bike Urban Adventure Biathlon Race Now, this is a concept and is still in the design stage.
