Register for Winter Biathlon Team Challenge Now!!!

Alberta Biathlon Club is inviting you to participate in the first Winter Biathlon Team Challenge Race of the season. This Relay race is open to general public and is the only biathlon competition in Alberta where kids and parents get to race alongside each other. The adults are especially welcome to race as we are getting ready to celebrate the start of the Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver. Come and test your shooting skills and challenge yourself in this Olympic sport first-hand.  Air rifles and ammunition will be provided. Participants are responsible for their own ski equipment.

When: Wednesday, February 10, 2010

Where: Biathlon Range at the Canmore Nordic Centre

Zero/Open Practice: 6:00 pm

Race Start: 7:00 pm

Race Format: Relay (teams of two) with two shooting bouts and 4 ski loops per each member of the team

How it works: Racers in each team will rotate after each shooting bout for a total of 2 shooting bouts and 4 ski laps. (e.g. first racer starts the race and skis 1 loop before his/her first shooting-shoots a round of 5 shots-skis penalty loops if necessary-then skis 1 loop to the finish to tag the second racer - second racer skis 1 loop and shoots 5 shots - skis 1 lap to the finish to tag the first racer - the first racer does the same thing he/she did at the start to tag the second racer who will then finish the race.) The first team to cross the finish line wins!

Cost: $20 per person

All racers MUST REGISTER INDIVIDUALLY and NOT as a team! Please, provide the name of your teammate in the online registration. Parents of the kids, please provide your name in the registration, so we can mail you a refund in case the race is canceled. No refunds will be issued after 12:00 pm on Tuesday, February 9, 2010.

CORRECTION: This event is now open to .22 cal rifles. Kids (14-16) and Adults will be shooting .22 cal rifles.
